Our sustainability policy

Aware of the limited resources of our planet and the impact of our sector on the environment, we have chosen to establish an environmental policy which allows us to reduce our ecological footprint while maintaining quality service.

Throughout the design, then construction and now maintenance of the hotel, we have paid particular attention to environmental aspects. This made it possible to give a responsible and sustainable character to the entire project.

Our approach in a few points:

Generally

We record our consumption (water and electricity) and waste production monthly and monitor any fluctuations.

We regularly check the operation of equipment and devices (faucets, lighting, heating, etc.).

We are participating in the Be Wapp major cleaning operation in the Walloon Region.

We also support several associations with a social purpose through donations or sponsorship.

Energy and electricity consumption

· The building was constructed in 2017-2018. Thermal and sound insulation has been particularly careful, in particular thanks to the installation of highly insulating double glazing and significant insulation of the walls, roof and partitions.
Thanks to these techniques, energy consumption is therefore reduced, particularly in the off-seasons when the need for heating/air conditioning is almost zero.

· The electricity consumed is produced from 75% renewable sources.

· We do not use fossil energy in the building.

· Air heating/cooling and hot water production are provided by heat pumps . We maintain a reasonable temperature in the hotel.

· The lighting in the corridors, staircases, reception and lounge is equipped with presence detectors , the exterior lighting is connected to time programmers .

· 100% of our lamps use LED technology, low consumption.

· All our devices (TV, household appliances, etc.) are energy efficient (class A, A+, A++, 2018 label).

· We prepare your room and, if necessary, turn on the heating . This way, the temperature is pleasant when you arrive and unwanted adjustments are limited.

In the bathroom

· Hospitality products most of the time end up in the trash without being completely used or are taken away.

We offer them in dispensers and, for shower gel, in refillable bottles (and refilled internally)

· Our towels are made from 100% organic cotton.

· Everyone knows the principle of placing a towel on the floor only if you want it to be changed. We apply it daily. From an ecological point of view, reusing towels means less water, detergent and energy (for washing and drying).

· The taps sinks, bathtubs and showers and toilet flushes are equipped with water-saving systems.

· In the normal position, the taps open on cold water and not on temperate water.

· The WCs are supplied by a 15,000 liter rainwater tank equipped with a complete filtration system.

Breakfast

· As part of an eco-responsible approach and in order to limit food waste, the breakfast buffet is served on a small plate.

· We also limit individually packaged products.

· Our pastries are cooked every morning in our kitchen , according to needs.

· Milk, coffee and chocolate are FairTrade certified , tea and cane sugar are also organic.

The trash can is more beautiful

· Our bedroom bins contain 40% recycled materials and, at the end of their life, 98% of their components are fully recyclable.
In addition, for each bin purchased, Brabantia supports The Ocean Cleanup, an association aiming to rid the world's oceans of all plastic.

· We apply selective sorting everywhere, in accordance with current legislation (glass, paper/cardboard, organic waste, batteries, soft plastic, PMC and special waste (paints, etc.).

· Selective sorting bins are available under the sink in the kitchen area on the 1st floor.

· At the administrative level, we favor digital documents . Printing is only started when necessary.

· We print in dark gray and chose an ink-efficient font.

Daily maintenance

· Our cleaning products are Eco-labeled and we use bamboo cleaning textiles.

· The floors are maintained with steam.

· We respect the prescribed dosages of cleaning and disinfection products.

· We also do not use fabric softener as it makes sponges less absorbent and is not ideal for the environment.

· We do not use deodorizers; daily ventilation of the premises is sufficient.

The exterior

We have placed nest boxes, insect hotels and hedges to promote biodiversity.

Our robot lawn mower will be programmed to mow only during the day.

We do not use any pesticides and weed by hand .

If necessary, the garden is watered with collected rainwater .

We have the ambition to go further and constantly improve. This is why, in accordance with our business plan and after 4 years of operation, we submitted our application to be certified Clé Verte.

This leads to some changes but without compromise in terms of the services offered and their quality.

We hope that you are sensitive to our approach and that you will support us. The success of this new challenge also depends on you!
